Gyrokinesis Method here at Raritan Valley Gyrotonic, NJ

METHOD
GYROKINESIS® was developed by Juliu Horvath. The motion concept includes the most important elements of yoga, dance and tai chi.
GYROKINESIS® systematically and gently trains joints and muscles by rhythmic wavelike movements. The spine is considered the central supporting element which gains new flexibility by harmonic wavelike, spiral and circular movements. The corresponding breathing patterns stimulate the nervous system and open up the body meridiens thus releasing waste products and toxic substances that can be taken away by the oxygen-enhanced bloodstream.
The flowing movement prevents static held-up positions and thereby superfluous body waste deposit and tensions.
The method stimulates energy in a natural way and helps to overcome listlessness and lethargy. The training is done in groups standing up as well as lying down. The complete training program is done without any training machines so the acquired exercises can be partially repeated at home or at work to relax the body from one-sided working positions.
People of all ages and different lifestyles benefit by this method, from therapy to high performance training for competitive athletes.

Gyrokinesis once called yoga for dancers
and more akin to yoga – Gyrokinesis is the foundation of the system and focuses on a specialized breathing technique on top of controlling the body’s movements to increase flexibility, balance and strength.  It utilizes the body in a way that not only builds strength and flexibility, but also invigorate your organs and shape your muscles through its rhythmic movements.

Gyrotonic & Gyrokinesis Instructor Training for New York and New Jersey

Whether you are already a fitness instructor in a discipline along the lines of yoga, Tai Chi or Pilates, or you are looking for a new way to share health and wellness with the world, Raritan Valley Gyrotonic offers the New York City and New Jersey areas instructor courses that will get you well on your way to a new and exciting fitness experience.

The first step in the process of becoming an instructor is to take several private sessions to become familiar with the method, then sign up for a Gyrokinesis pre-training or Gyrotonic pre-training course.  As the foundation of the Gyrotonic method, instruction in Gyrokinesis lays the groundwork for certification and is great instruction for those who simply desire to deepen their own practice with a better understanding for the Gyrotonic Expansion System.

After a Gyrokinesis pre-training course or Gyrotonic pre-training course, instructors can delve into Gyrotonic teacher trainings and Gyrokinesis teacher trainings held at the Raritan Valley Gyrotonic studio. These course build upon the pre-training class and go into more detail on the exercise method to ensure that participants can offer their students the most knowledgeable and complete experience. You can also take confidence in the instructor training courses offered at RV Gyrotonic because the studio is registered with and approved by the central Gyrotonic entity – a certification that is not easy to come by.

If you are not quite sure whether teacher training is right for you or you are wondering what the Gyrotonic Expansion System entails, there are a few major things that you should be aware of before taking the training courses:

  • As stated above, Gyrokinesis is the foundation of the Gyrotonic system. While not necessary, it’s highly recommended instructors and students have an understanding of Gyrokinesis before moving on and enrolling in the other available Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis trainings.
  • While part of the same method, there is a slight difference between Gyrotonics and Gyrokinesis. Gyrokinesis is about controlled breathing and movement with the only tools being your body and a small stool. Gyrotonics incorporates the breathing method learned in Gyrokinesis, and uses a specially created machine to guide the body’s movements. Both offer incredible cardio benefits and help people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels achieve high levels of control, stability and body confidence.
  • It’s also important to note, the special machine used in Gyrotonics – called the Gyrotonic Pulley Tower – is a mandatory piece of equipment for Gyrotonic exercises.

Due to the nature of the Gyrotonic Expansion System, many of the people we see come through for Gyrotonic teacher training in NJ have a strong background in yoga, Pilates or physical therapy. However, this should not by any means imply that you need to have this kind of previous training yourself in order to become an instructor.
